Staying in Hostel or campus dorm makes one thinks about lack of accommodations such as fridge and such but for me, it wasn't a problem to eat Vegetables. You can actually buy the packed salads from the store and keep them for days without relying on fridge. Believe me, it's true! And I'll tell you how. ^_^
Okay, first when you bought the packed mixed salads, you should know how fresh they are just by checking them through the packs since you can't actually opened them before you buy them.
You need to know that they vegetables that you bought would rot if they are being soaked in water. The packed ones are usually dry since they aren't being soaked in water, oh and mine is actually organic.
When you want to eat you greens, you CAN'T just washed the whole thing. If you want to keep them in a good condition, you need to remember it well.
Just plucked few leaves and rinse them with water, if you are not using the organic ones that used pesticides and such please do soaked them in salt water for about 20-30 seconds or so and rinse them with fresh water. This is to actually makes sure that the chemical to be washed out from the surface and for hygiene purposes.
You can keep the rest of the unused vegetables in the pack, and keep them in an open space, don't close them up in dark places and such and avoid letting them out in a sunny place or it will evaporates the moist inside the vegetables and makes them to be exposed to water droplets that is formed in which actually would lead them to rot faster when they are in contact of water for a long time.
